Brigadier General A. C. McAuliffe.
This guy. In WW2, his soldiers fought against Germans in their offensive attack, The Battle of the Bulge. When the commanding German officer demanded surrender, General McAuliffe (baddassly) said “Nuts.”

Adam Richetti - 1909-1938, Gangster. Sidekick of “Pretty Boy” Floyd. He was the only man tried for the Kansas City Massacre, which he wasn’t actually involved in. Adam was executed after an unfair trial which happened to launch the FBI out of obscurity.
Associated Press: Laura Mae Davis Burlingame went to the National World War II Museum looking for a display commemorating her high-school sweetheart. What she found brought tears almost 70 years after 22-year-old Marine Cpl. Thomas “Cotton” Jones died. (May 27)

One more thing I wanted to share: Greatest Generation is posting some really great things for Memorial Day about some really great people in history! The Thomas “Cotton” Jones story is definitely worth a read, as is browsing the The National WWII Museum Memorial Day site.
Also want to bring attention to the blogger who originally posted this video, Cool Chicks from History. They post some great stuff and you should all check out their fabulous blog!

This is Padraig Pearse. He helped to lead the Easter Rising in 1916 in Ireland. This lead to the Irish War of Independence, which got Ireland its (partial) freedom which it has today. Pearse also helped to revive the Irish language. He was executed after the Rising, but he is still considered a hero.
