Winnaretta Singer, Princesse Edmond de Polignac
(8 January 1865 – 26 November 1943) 
Known to her family as ‘Tante Winni’, heiress to the SInger sewing machine fortune. Known to private circles as a lesbian (on her first wedding night, she climbed on top of the armoire and threatened to kill her new husband if he came near her), then got ‘lavender’ married to another lover of music, the equally rockin’ french prince.
Had a relationship with the wonderful painter Romaine Brooks (check her out!) and did loads of public work - established a haven for avant-garde music in her own mansion, helping build housing for the working poor, commissioned public shelter’s for Paris’ Salvation Army and even helped Marie Curie convert private limousines into mobile radiology units to help wounded soldiers at the front in the war. 
Plus, she was a stunner when she was younger.
