Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) was a brilliant Mexican painter best known for her surrealistic self-portraits. With no formal training she approached her painting after she got into an accident and was left alone a majority of the time. A true woman and very much ahead of her time, Frida oozed honesty and open-mindedness worthy of many admirers. I won’t forget one of her great quotes: “I was born a bitch. I was born a painter.”
