My history crushes:

1. Captain Francis Rawdon Moira Crozier. Dapper Irish-born naval commander and experienced polar explorer. Took part in the fabled Franklin Expedition and disappeared along with his ships and men. When Sir John Franklin died in the arctic, he took over command like a boss; but nobody got out alive anyway. There is evidence that he made it farther south than was previously thought, as some of his personal belongings were found with southern Inuit.

2. George Leigh Mallory. Cocky, blatanty sexual Englishman who was both a college teacher and mountain climber. Had a famously short attention span and the best glutes in history. Disappeared on Everest in 1924. His body was found decades later but the circumstances surrounding his death are still a mystery.

3. Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov. Pictured here in his younger days, around 1920. A brilliant strategist who valued quality over quantity in a time when his contemporaries were basically tossing their soldiers willy-nilly at the Germans. Goddamn, look at that handsome Slavic bone structure. Grew up to look like a potato, because Russians don’t age well. I tend to remember him as he was.
