This is Jan Bytnar, nicknamed “The Ginger”, Polish Scoutmaster and Polish Scouting resistance activist during the WWII. He was 18 when the war started and from the beggining he was a huge part of the resistance forces: first he was a part of the unit that consisted of teenage boys and continued to basically prank Nazi Soldiers in order to keep the fighting spirit alive in his compatriot’s hearts, then he participated in some serious sabotage actions (like blowing up a train). He was a massive badass - his most famous works consisted of remowing Nazi flags from the most prominent streets of Warsaw, re-making propaganda slogans and drawing HUGE symbols of the Polish Sabotage Forces on the seat of the Nazi Police - we are talking occupied Warsaw here so it really took some serious balls to do it. He is said to be the brain of most of these actions. He was arrested and tortured, but never betrayed his friends who organised a huge action to liberate him. Even though it did work, he died at the age of 22 from the wounds he got during the torture sessions.
