Oscar Montelius (1843-1921)
Swedish archaeologist and owner of an awesome beard. This guy was the first person to look at European prehistoric remains on a continental scale, creating a chronology that fairly accurately traced the spread of humans and their changing cultures across Europe. He was also one of the first European archaeologists to name the Middle East as the home of human culture instead of Europe. Without him, many of our modern archaeological theories may not have been possible. Plus he was super handsome.
